Wanna Go Topless?

A little something upfront

(from the archives)

Every now and again I just want to change something.  No good reason.  Just because….  And that is how these things start.

Had a little time after doing some things and to decided to try something else.    The paint on the car is still pretty faded and sad which is fine… it’s fine… really!  But for now why not paint the front emblem, so I did.  I made it black to match the….er…. the tires,  yes that is what it matched, the tires!   🙂

First I had to mask off the area around the emblem. It is ok to get over spray due to the trying out Plasti Dip material  which is why you see the masking allowing so much space around the emblem. In fact it is necessary to have space around  to get the nice clean edge on the emblem.  (Notice the expert tape job!! Heck ya!   This is about 5-6 heavy coats and a couple of coats of gloss.

This is the Far shot so you can really appreciate that expert tape job even more.

Here is the finished project.  I chose not to remove the product from the inside of the logo because everyone else does that.     Yes, I know the red faded paint hurts the eyes but we are focusing on the black emblem! Focus on the black emblem and breathe slowly.  It actually came out pretty cool and will match some other items coming soon.
